The National Science Foundation’s Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) has announced it will become a founding member of DHITglobal.org (DHIT), a social venture dedicated to driving digital health innovation across the ecosystem and transforming North Carolina and the Triangle into a global digital health hub. They will join co-founders Bluedoor on a mission to bring together diverse stakeholders from the healthcare, technology, investor, research, business and entrepreneurial communities to play a role in driving the digital health revolution through experiential workshops, thought leadership and Open Innovation events.
Dr. Veena Misra, Director of the NSF ASSIST Center, said, “This collaboration is critical for accelerating digital health innovation and commercializing the resulting outputs. Our joint development will address key challenges facing healthcare consumers, providers and payors related to knowledge, efficiency, cost and outcomes.”
Michael Levy, co-founder of DHIT and CEO of Bluedoor, said, “We’re delighted to welcome ASSIST to the team. Joining us in this mission will leverage the potential of digital health technology to transform how healthcare is accessed, delivered and experienced by the individuals, families and communities we all serve. ASSIST brings technical expertise, energy and key relationships to help galvanize this important endeavor.”
One of the first collaborations will see ASSIST and Bluedoor bring together digital health experts from across the Triangle in November to support the US Department of Defense in a Warfighter Wearables Workshop which will identify and advance specific digital health opportunities to optimize the performance and wellbeing of our troops.
